I personally agree with doing some layout changes so it does follow
the guidelines used by the project. I think it ought to be done after
removing recipes which can be moved to other layers so we have it as
lean as possible.

Agreed; you could prepare a patch for meta-oe and once it is accepted
there it can be removed from meta-fsl-ppc.

If it has been merged, please send a patch to remove it. Otherwise
please first deal with the pending changes for getting it merged in
meta-oe and when it is merged you can remove it here. (I did not
checked if it has been merged or not).
