Looks like a plugin has been release in Qt 5.3 that was not available in
5.2:

Before even 720p used one cpu-core completely and wasn't fluid."

Building with Qt 5.3 beta seems to have done the trick.  CPU usage is down
to 35-40% playing video and rotating text.

That was a big help in getting 5.3 beta to run on wandboard.
