The zedboard seems to target more "consumer" oriented projects. The
zc702 appears to be more aimed at heavy duty data processing. I don't
think you'll ever see both boards in a single projects.
Another view: The zc702 looks like an FPGA evaluation board, while the
zedboard looks like an ARM CPU evaluation board.
I started "my" layer because none of the available layers actually
supported the on-board hardware to an extent that they could actually be
used, like the audio chips, OLED, HDMI, IO controllers, and even the NOR
flash. If you ignore the periferals, then yes, you could say they're the
same.
