I've tried most. I have everything built on 13.10 now...and I was going to
take my laptop back to 12.04 as I thought that was the issue. Turns out if you
go over the logs for the git repos, yocto is testing on 12.04 and 13.10, so I
don't think that is an issue. I suspect whoever put the dora tarball up there
on the yocto site was using Fedora as it was set for package_rpm, who in their
right mind would do that as ipk is compatible with dpkg on Debian/Ubuntu. I
set mine for ipk so that I can always install to a running device, all you
need is opkg.

I will continue looking at this when I get back tonight. I need to be onsite
