I guess that the following is expected behaviour in qemu?

hwclock: can't open '/dev/misc/rtc': No such file or directory

That should help suppress the message for now so that you can use QEMU.

I have a fix for this issue that doesn't require hacking QEMU or the kernel itself. Just want to make sure it doesn't cause any regressions before applying it, but it will be available with the next BSP release (and I will most likely backport it as well).
