Glad to hear you got things working.  One thing I just remember, I
never got saving the u-boot environment to MTD partition to work.  It
seems that the MTD SPI flash driver and the environment module don't
play together nicely yet.  I'm just saving the uboot env to raw flash
partition.

This is on my list of things to try.  Good to hear you're having
success with it.
