[meta-xilinx] Xilinx SDK + Petalinux

Not sure this is the correct place to ask this but here goes.

Is it possible to create a Xilinx SDK application project that petalinux can suck in and compile/deploy from ../project/spec/meta-user/ ?  I've been experimenting trying to get the Yocto plugin for Eclipse installed into the Xilinx SDK but there are all kinds of problems I am running into.

I am just trying to develop my applications in the Xilinx SDK and then push them onto the build server which is using petalinux to build the images.  I'm finding that the Xilinx SDK is extremely crippled.  I am hoping I am missing something and this is possible.  I saw about a year ago that someone else was asking a similar question but the conversation tapered off before any details were communicated.
