This probably won't be all that helpful .. but I built and booted the
atom-pc in both the minimal and sdk images via a usb stick by
following the instructions in README.hardware.

(this was the 2.6.34 kernel, the 2.6.37 kernel still needs some more options)

This was an old pentium (pentium 4) target I had here, so nothing
special.

What was your boot media ? hard disk ?
