[Toaster] Toaster weekly call notes (May 6th 2015)

Weekly update

David: mainly on holiday

Dave: commented on image customisation and CLI tool feature request. The
latter sounds like a useful one, so Dave will open an enhancement in
Bugzilla for it

Belén: redesigning the project page to fit new functionality, and working
with Michael on the refactoring of our tables

Alex: fixing stuff in data collection that came up as a result of
integration with Yocto Project Autobuilder. Also documenting Toaster API
to facilitate integration with other tools

Michael: Toaster table refactoring work, which is pretty much feature
complete. He'll send a new branch to the mailing list and will start
migrating new tables. Discussed 6984

and came up with an implementation plan as explained by the new Bugzilla
entries linked to 6984 through dependencies.

Mihail: nothing to report

Paul: nothing to report

Tiago: visual design work for Toaster and other Yocto Project tools

Levi: visual design work for Toaster and other Yocto Project tools

Ed: joined the Yocto Project team at Intel recently and this call for the
fist time. He has been doing Toaster bug fixing

Opens:

Visual design work: Levi has a version one of the visual identity for
Toaster and other Yocto Project web tools. He sent some files to the
mailing list

We discussed the designs and provided some feedback:

* Too much whitespace: information density is quite low. Compress
vertically if possible
* A lot of buttons
* Exposed navigation is good
* Tabs and actions look very similar
* The horizontal navigation (tabs) looks like steps on a wizard
* Should we use all caps for labelling?
* We should have an example of a target name wrapping
* How will the sortable states look like? How will they play with the
column filters?
* Can we make the columns resizable by users? Belen has some doubts about
how that will behave and perform, but there are some plugins out there
that Dave has shared and that maybe we could try
