I'm not sure I fully understand the question. By default, PV is determined 
from the recipe filename, if the filename contains an underscore. Alternatively 
PV may be set within the recipe as with any variable. If it is not in the 
recipe filename and not explicitly set in the recipe then it will default to 
"1.0".
